i adore still life....so many interesting facets!...the individual pieces are beautifully drawn, are you using sanford?....if so...greyed lavendar is nearly magic in lil shadow areas..also mutes abit too..
did you use any celadon? a grand mid value greenish grey, that might help the transition from deep shadow to mid shadow..
the box is perfection....glorious grain..a lil bit of cast shadow in the cloth would anchor it a tiny bit more...
the brass on the right is gorgeous and glistening...if you had twisted it a tiny bit more you could have overlapped that left side handle...
i love how the theme of the brass/gold/box handle all seem to relate the objects...very nice variation of shapes here too....
did you arrange the set up? that takes me more time than creating a still life!

Hello one who sees, first of all thank you for your wonderful comments. Yes I'm using Sanford Prisma Colored Pencils. I haven't tried any other brand of Prisma. No I didn't used celadon, to draw the shadows I used tuscan red and olive green. For the darker shadows I added dark green. Yes, I arranged the set up. I gathered some items from around the house, covered my husbands drafting table with a piece of cloth and arranged the items and set a bright light to cast a shadow. I know what you mean about taking alot of time to set things up. I was never quite satisfied with each arrangement so I kept making changes until I found something I liked. Once again thank for all your help I'm learning a lot from you.

Fantastic work Lennie!
I love the box in the front. A while back, someone posted a picture of a geisha....was it you? I think they used mineral spirits? to move the colored pencil around so that it almost looked like paint. I'd love to see that effect on the red wall. Beautiful work!

Thanks Jess for your nice comment. The box was my favorite too. I'm glad you like it. It wasn't me that posted the geisha. I've never tried mineral spirit. Maybe I should give it a try.

Very nicely done! The colors are warm and vibrant! I love the cloth underneath everything. That really adds life to the composition!
