| This is a colored pencil drawing of an old gun owned by my nephew and a rose from my yard. Why I put the two together I have no idea unless I was thinking of the rock group "Guns and Roses"
Comments are welcome. |

Hey Ron, This is exceptional work! As loose as my Jazz Trio is that's how tight your work is. Does that make sense? I guess I'm talking opposite ends of the spectrum. This is a unique combination of objects. Did you ever wonder how the group came up with the name "Guns & Roses"? Jim

Boy do I love it when you post new stuff! This is wonderful! I love the crisp lines of the gun. The detail work that you have been able to achieve with CP is just amazing to me. THAT rose is fantastic!!!!! So lifelike! I don't think I've seen many floral pictures from you. Would definitely like to see more. Congrats!

Thanks, Jim and Jess, for your comments. Yes, Jim, I have wondered how they came up with that name. It could be that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum. One is cold and menacing and the other is soft and fragrant. Of course roses do have thorns! Jess, You were correct. It is a rose. I don't know what variety it is, but it is miniature in size. |

Ron, This is stunning as usual, the rose looks like what they call a fairy rose, they are miniatures. I love the effect of the cold metal against the warm petals.
You have hinted a shadow under the rose, any reason you didn't for the gun? |

Thanks Heather, OK, you got me! The gun was done from a photo taken with the gun lying on a gray weathered porch floor. It was an overcast day and there were no distinct shadows. The rose was drawn from life and there were shadows. I started not to show the shadows but couldn't resist. I considered making up some shadows from the gun but realized poor placement could ruin the piece. I was really expecting a comment about it. You have a good eye and made a good observation. |

| Ron...............outstanding as usual. I kind of like the no shadow on the gun. Gives it a kind of (don't quite know how to express it) eerie? floating effect, while the rose is quite 'grounded'. Kind of a contrast between what man has made, and what is natural to this earth. The detail is exceptional. I suppose one with an imagination could suppose a lot of senarios. Anyhow, WELL done. |

beautiful!....looks like a lil climbing rose? ....the metal of the gun feels very nice too!... i wonder though if you have a shadow beneath the rose....none beneath the gun? could have been intestingly shaped? |
