| This sketch is almost two years old. It was done on contractor's paper that I bought at Lowe's. It's fun to draw on. Sort of like a brown paper bag. But I wouldn't bet the farm on it's archival qualities.
My grandson was looking for shells at the beach.

Hi Ron, It’s always a pleasure to look at your work. You never know, but under glass and out of sunlight it might last for many years so that if it’s still in the family your grandson might pass it down to his grandson, and so on. We can only wish it so. Leon

I think the skin and hair values came thru very nicely on the "paper bag". Just a thought....it might be nice to put a seashell in view. I see a white spot down near his shadow.....is that a shell?

Hi Ron, You have found a fabulous way to recycle brown paper bags! I think they are of similar material as contractor paper. I would never have thought of doing this, but as Leon says, out of light etc it should last you for years to come. Beautiful work as usual, but I do have to say you are much better now, you have grown as an artist, your current work has a richer feel to it. |

Thank you all for the comments. Heather, This was just a quick experimental sketch to try the paper with CP. I think I worked on it about an hour. Anyway, it wasn't intended to be a finished piece. One thing I don't like about the paper is that it is wavy and won't lie flat.

Very nice Ron. Hey, one of the few stores in this town that sells some art supplies, sells some brown paper that looks much like a brown paper bag. It is very smooth, no ripples. It comes in a roll, but they will cut off whatever size piece one wants. The sales lady gave me about a 16 x 20 piece for free so I'd give it a try for pastel, but I haven't tried it yet. I think it's acid free. I have an acid testing pen, I guess I should test it.
