16 x20 Oil Painting: Waiting For Spring

My Dogs start to drive me crazy once Spring is upon us ... all they want to do is go outside.  Normally during the day, they like to burrow under blankets.  But when spring arrives Keiko likes to lie on the top of the sofa back and stare out as our backyard comes alive with nature.  This is the intense stare I get ... as she waits anxiously for me to give her a cue that we are going for a walk.

This is the second oil painting I have done since I was in high school, I am now a member of AARP.  The love I have for my dogs has inspired me to awaken my creative energy and I find them fascinating subjects.  They are so expressive with their ears and eyes.

10 x 14 watercolor.  Entitled: "Spring Prep"

We had a case of "spring fever" and took a drive down to the shore.  There in a local boat-yard the boat owners were preparing their yachts prior to the vessels being re-launched for spring/summer use.   This includes scraping off barnacles, sanding, priming and painting the boats.  A quick photo of the action as we passed provided me with reference material for this watercolor.  Of course, my many years on a sailboat as a deck hand provided me with the missing pieces.   Ah, spring!  Definitely a labor of love!

I see you've posted a painting. That's all it takes to enter the contest. Glad to have you "on board." Hope to see more of your posts on the message board.

Title: "The Joy of A Mother" 8.5 x 11. Colored paper and ink.

When I think of spring I think of Easter and also of the coming of warmer weather. In my suburban neighborhood, children, joggers, dog-walkers, etc start spending more time outdoors enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather. The world is suddenly alive with a bursts of new color and freshness in the air and this picture reminds me of the new life, color and warmth of spring.

To God be the glory, great things He has done.

I liked your bumble bee. I am starting with watercolor and hope I can do a painting as well as yours is done. I am thinking of doing a bird of some kind.

Circle of Life:  The Spawning Bed is 11 X 14 and done with pastel over watercolor on 300 lb. Arches Watercolor Paper.

When we can make an early Spring trip to our small lake, we get to see the Blue Gills spawning very close to the waters' edge.  The male constantly swims in a circle to create a dip where the female will lay her eggs.  He continues to guard the bed while the female gets food.  You can often seen clusters of 8 or 10 of such spawning beds in a small area. My painting had a kind of  "out of this world" quality which helped me to choose the larger idea of "Circle of Life."

Thanks for looking!

What a fun and joyful painting!  Love the color in the music notes and the children's clothing.  Very "Spring" for me.  Arkansas Fran

Title:  Tis The Season

Medium:  Watercolor

Size:  10 x 14

Spring is painting plein aire!  After a long gray winter, my work starts to look stiff and I just need to get outside and paint.  Can't do that in the winter, so Spring is "Plein Aire!"

I love your painting.  The colors are stunning and so appropriate for the subject matter (an artist at work!).  Just enough detail.  Pegootie (Peggy)

Spring to me is about new beginings, new life for the universe, and a continuation of what was. It is warmth and sunshine.

This is done on a 12"x12" paper from a photo ablum with graphite.

And it is a figment of my memories that takes me back to the time when I sat and decorated easter eggs with mother for the celebration of the new season.

New life for the sketch I have done.

I enhanced the sketch  in photoshop by layering hints of color to represent the sky sun and earth.

I don't know if this counts. Just thougtht I would throw it in.

Everyones work is so beautiful, with so much thought put into them. Excellent work all of you.

This is another of my collection in the series that I am working on.

My inspiration for these comes from my childhood and the tradition of creating easter eggs for the holiday festivities, which is a new begining of a new season.

This one in done with graphite on 8.5 x 11 inches 135lb Smooth - HeavyWeight Pad.

The coloring is computer enhanced along with the texture you see.

I am working on a series of these. I will have them done in graphite only and framed. I also plan in time to put these on canvas with acrylic.

I tend to lean toward abstract that is clean and crisp because it allows me to be creative . Yet I do enjoy doing landscape, still life, and other forms of art.
