This is an oil painting done in plein-aire.   It is 16" x 20" stretched canvas.
The location is Glen Alpine Falls,  on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.

Like many members in this challenge, I have not posted here before.  There are so many talented artists and wonderful scenes, I am a bit overwhelmed.  My painting is a 12x16" watercolor on 140 lb cp paper, titled 'A Turtle of a Different Color' which I had done as a class project.  Hope this is appropriate for this challenge.

Hi, I am new to this forum and would like to share a Watercolour I did of a scene in Venice. Although the photo does not do it justice (the colours are much more vibrant), it was a wonderful subject to paint. It measures about 12 x 14.

Thank you.

Diane

"Hidden Beach Overlook-Point Lobos"
12" X 16"   Oil on canvas.  9-30-08
Painted from a plein air experience.  The day was actually foggy and gray, but I transformed it into a sunny day to capture the colors of the water.

This is an 11 x 14 inch work in acrylic.  It was inspired by one of the pieces from Debussy's Images.  The name of the piece as well as the picture is "Poisson d'or". which translates, Gold Fish. The texture of the water was done with matt medium, still staying with acrylic, my choice of medium.

"Spirit Renewal by Water" - pastel on Wallis Paper - 11" x 8" unframed. This was painted for a H2O theme required for a Guild Member's Exhibit (Portsmouth Arts Guild, Portsmouth, RI). I thought that a Waterfall would provide the challenge of  portraying a lot of spectacular H2O and a figure would add interest. I hoped the image would help the viewer imagine hearing the music of the falling water.

"Thereasa's Place" is a 13" x 19" watercolor.  Thereasa sent me a picture that she took of Fleming Falls in Georgia.  This is a place that is very special to her and her family so I had to paint it.  This is my first attempt at entering the paint off and posting to this forum.  I welcome all critique as this is how I grow.  I've been painting for 3 years now (had to wait till the kids were gone and time allowed).

Wow!  There are lots of fun paintings on this thread.  Here's my interpretation of lots of water.  It's titled "Splash", (watercolor on Arches 140lb cp; 10.75x6.5).

“Splash” is about water interrupted.  I did a doodle, oddly enough, while waiting for jury duty.  When I saw the challenge description, I remembered the doodle and thought it would be perfect.  I saw a splash in the doodle.  I could imagine water after something has penetrated through the surface.  It’s a small moment of violence as the smoothness of the surface is disturbed.  That is the moment I envisioned as I worked on this piece.

Thank you.
