I am new to this forum but when I saw the image I wanted to try to improve on my oil painting as I primarily work in pastels. So here is my version of the garden angel.

Thanks

Thanks to the person who took the reference picture for this paint off. Neutral statuary against bright colors. good choice.

Hi, I'm a newbie here and just found this site a couple of weeks ago and thought what a great idea to get one painting in a hurry.  There are so many beautiful paintings so far.  So inspired, I put this together in 3 days, which is fast for me.  I can't wait for the next challenge.  This is oil on canvas 12 x 16 and I named my garden angel "Reflecting."  Hope to see ya next time.

Here is my version of the garden angel. It is 14 7/8 x 11 1/4 grumbacher watersoluble oils on gessoed paper. I was going to call it garden angel in faerieland, but my hb thought masybe I should call it puck's paradise. I think I'll call it "Midsummer Daydream"

I really love this Angel because it seems more appropriate for the season as it looks more like fall leaves blowing around the Angel.  I don't know if that was your intent or not but that is the feel that I get from it. Lovely! This is for the Angel that D Shortt painted. I just don't know how to get this under her painting.

Thank you for your comment. Since I am more attracted to warm colors, that is probably why it looks like fall, so happy accident. Fall is my favorite time of year and most of my landscapes tend to look like that.
Your version has a wonderful design due to adding the reflection. So I think I will send my congratulations on a work well done to you!

When I first saw the photo of the Garden Angel I was reminded of Cezanne's "Still Life with Cupid".  So, I decided to paint my garden angel on Cezanne's table, in the style of Cezanne. This is painted on Art Spectrum pastel paper.  It is approximately 13" x 13".

Hi all:

I was gone the whole month of Aug. and part of Sept. doing a drive trip to visit our son and his family. We returned in mid Sept. and I promptly went to have cataract surgery for both eyes on Sept.19th and 26th. Almost miss the paint-off, but in between the prepping and recuperation time, I managed to sneak in painting time intermittenly and with one eye close at a time about 8 hours altogether and had the painting done on time. I am sending it in, in the spirit of participation.

This painting is based on a story I have written, inspired by  "The Garden Angel" :-

"Once upon a time, there was a mommy angel who had a little angel whom she loved very much. One day, mommy angel had to go do her angelic duty in a faraway land. She could not bring her little angel with her because he had not sprouted his wings yet. So she decided to leave him in a garden. But this garden is vast and she was afraid he might get lost so she turned him into stone, thus containing him in one area. He was allowed power to call flowers and leaves to come to him and he could place them in any area within the garden by his mind power. This was how he passed his time in the garden.

When mommy angel finished her assigned duty, she flew back home surrounded by clouds. When the little angel in the garden saw her, he was very happy and slowly returning to life -The end! "

Hi Lisa:

Why did my painting show up on page 2 as CAJ's painting? I've just posted mine on page 3 at 5:17 p.m.

Never mind, I e-mailed to CAJ and he(she) has kindly removed my extra painting and reinstalled his own. Weird thing this computer stuff can do.

Hi zannetx: Sorry I have been away again. I have decided to make an effort to paint at least an hour a day. I actually did this painting during a workshop here with Brian Simons, an artist from Victoria. It was great, since I have been known to overwork a piece to death. He said pick a photo so I thought this one would be a good one to do and then post it here! (I am always multi-tasking)

I love to see what you all have done with the same image! I really like the Cezanne impression and the reflection on this page...
