I really like the deep terra cotta hues in the arches and the perspective. It gives a sense of heat and earthiness. Well put together.

My wife and I recently took a ride up to Mt. Rainier here in Washington State. One of the trails you can hike is called the Longmire loop. These two trees were crossed right over the top of us. It was like a huge X marks the spot from a pirate movie. I took several pictures while we were up there, so I'll probably do a series of paintings from that trip. This is a watercolor, 11 X 15 on Strathmore 140 lbs cold press paper.

Thanks,

Jim

Nice job Jim! It is so great when you come across these wonderful visions. I guess it is the reason we paint landscape!

This is a spectacular view of a sunrise at an Eastern sea port in Southern Thailand where I visited years ago. I've kept the photo intending but not resolving to paint it until now. I didn't like the harsh concrete foregrounds in the photo, so I did what every artist would do :- create our own world! I changed the foregrounds into a beachfront. I softened it a bit to simulate the half dark half light (or is it 40% dark and 60% light?) of an early morning view on the beach.

Acrylic on canvas panel 11"x14"

I am working on another big one, hoping to get it posted before cutoff date.

Hi everyone

What beauty in diversity, it is so nice to see all the different styles in one place. Each picture tells it's own story, it is like having a vacation in numerous spots at the same instant. Well done evreyone.

Thank you Lynda..

I hope to see more of your work..

The coral is from a reef about 3 hours by car and a 300 yard swim from my house. My diving buddy took several underwater  pictures for reference for me..

Hello Everyone,

I submitted this before but after I did someone mentioned that the mountains in the back were not receding.  So, I grayed them to fix the problem and I think it works better now.  Hope you like the new version.

Dear Lisa:

Hope you had a nice vacation and come back refreshed.I got a question re contest: I submitted an entry on 06/22 in kind of hurry. Since then I had time to refine it a bit. How can I delete the first and insert a new one (same pic)? I clicked "edit" on top left and "delete" at "message attached" but nothing happened.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Artist Forums.  Here is a pastel painting I recently finished of the seacoast in Oregon. It is from a photograph I took 2 years ago while making a trip down the 101.   It is titled "Outgoing Tide" and is 10x13.

Never mind, I already figured it out. I tried again and it worked!

Hi Joan

your painting looked a little bit dark on my screen. I copied it and brightened it about 12%.

WOW!!  I can smell the salt air..  I paint the ocean and the surf  too.  You captured the perspective of the rocks and the waves beautifully..

Well done..

Hi Frank,

Thank you for the compliment.  I enjoyed painting it.  I have a little trouble photographing my paintings, that's why it's so dark.  I like your muchacha.
