I'm getting ready to enter a painting in a juried show for the first time. Any tidbits of advice would be most appreciated! One question I have is do I need to frame my painting? If not, do I need to enclose the back? Do I need to attach a wire for hanging? THANKS!!!!!

What medium? I've been in several juried watercolor shows and they all request "ready to hang" with a specific hanging wire and loops as well as the wire be taped on the twisted part so no one is poked. For oils, I think they at least require "museum wrapped" canvas if you're not going to frame it.

It's an acrylic on canvas. The painting "wraps" with the canvas, and I was hoping to not frame it. I'm sure I need to enclose the back somehow, but am drawing a complete blank on how...
The other art shows I've entered (a looooonnnngggg time ago!) I entered watercolors (framed or matted and sealed) or acrylics (on masonite, and framed).
I haven't done a lot of work on canvas, so I am at a complete loss.
Thanks for your response!!!

There is no juried show worth it's salt that allows unframed paintings, gallery wrap or no. And you always leave the back open with a stretched canvas. It needs to breathe, avoids mildew etc. There should also be hooks and wire, not sawtooth hangers. I would think the show prospectus specified framing?

This is information given.
"All works accepted must be suitably framed and/or ready for display."

I've only had stuff in 5 shows before (only 1 in the last 10 years). Four of those show were done while I was a student, and I had teachers on hand for guidance.
I'll have to check with my local frame shop I guess.
Thanks
