I want to convert a sugar bush cabin into a studio and would appreciate suggestions about lighting and design.
I am retired and began painting with acrylic a few years ago - I love it, I paint in my dreams but I need a space of my own.
Thank you for your time and suggestions.

Have done some research on studios, as I am in the same quandry. After reading books, and looking at artists studios in magazines, I've come to a few conclusions. North light is most important. Track lighting. Exhaust fan and good ventilation. A good long countertop, with sink. All storage cabinets, tables on locking wheels instead of being built into the walls. A floor that does not need to be protected. Lots of open room for a model and maybe a few other artists to share modeling expenses. Wall finished with builder board, can be staples into, and painted as needed.Room on walls for work. Basically, a big empty box. MSHa |

| I think having a big door is also good for people who work large. Not only having North light but having lots of windows not only for light but to see the outside so you don't feel boxed in. |
