I did this painting of my calico in Acrylic.

all comments are greatly appreciated. I'm still trying to

learn from my mistakes. I've had no formal training in

Art other than what little bit  I picked up from an Art class

in High school.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi Joyce
I like your cat very much. It has the look of a primitive, which is part of its appeal. Do some research on folk art and you'll find that formal training is not for everyone. Try to keep your painting personal by painting what you know, and what's around you. Its all practice and observation.
As far as this particular painting, I think the shadow is too heavy, and maybe not necessary. Your background colors suggest a landscape, so why not go with that?
Oh, and lets see some of those lovely cat whiskers!
Hope this helps,

Hi Joyce, I also like your cat and agree with Margery about the shadow.
How about posting your cat also in the acrylic forum and perhaps a bit larger size where it will better viewed and where you will get more comments and advice. check the reply column in this forum and you will see that it is not a very active forum. Hope to see more of your work.
