I'm new and not sure if this is where I can get some "constructive" comments. If wrong, delete. I'd sure appreciate your comments re background contrasts etc. This is a pastel portrait, 16 x 20 on Mi-Tente Pastel paper. Please comment, I have a thick skin.

to JohnD on self portrait; I'm no expert but I think it's great. The background is very colorful but looks good to me. Very good detail especially eyes. charl

Your self-portrait is very sincere. It looks good. You may find your intense stare hanging on the wall, will eventually get to you. It is however a very good portrait. You might want to try a three quarter view next time.
