| Any constructive criticism would help. This is my first colored pencil piece. 14x17.

This is very good for a first try in colored pencils. You must have lots of experience in other media. By the way did you use yourself or a close relative for a model? There is a strong resemblance between the "Bride" and your photograph. Carol

| Yes, they are prismacolors. I'm pretty happy with the blendability of them. I haven't used other brands yet though. |

Thanks carol! I actualy don't have a whole lot of experience with any other media. I have been using oils lately, but I hardly ever get the alone time to paint much. I took a few watercolor classes in highschool and really liked it, but haven't donw a whole lot since. I figured I would try out colored pencil since I drew with graphite for so long, pretty much since I could pick up a pencil! I'm definitely going to continue using colored pencils, I'm really happy with the convenience of the, for me.
No, the subject is not related to me as far as I know, but my great grandmother was from the same "gypsy" tribe. They were Kuchi Gypsy. I'm not really sure if they are still around. The reference photo I used was from 1922. |
