This is a 9x12 watercolor. I would appreciate serious critiques that would help me improve my work.

Richalene,
I think you did a wonderful job on this watercolor. I dont paint in watercolor too much, mostly oil. I love your technique and the values. The ONLY thing , I can really think of is that you have the barn dead center. Maybe more bushes on the bottom left that would lead the eye into the focal point? It is sure nice though!

I just joined a few minutes ago and dont have any of my work up yet, but my website is www.cindywilbur.com. I just got that website up yesterday and need to correct a few things. This is all new to me.

I really like the values of the barn in the painting. It also has great texture in the barn. The wood of the barn is very detailed and the shadows give a great grounding effect to the barn. The painting has alot of character captured in this old rustic barn. It is hard to tell from the values in the foilage where the foreground and the background are. Maybe a little more air around the barn and and muted foilage in the background would give it a better sense of backround. Also the foilage seems to converge on the barn squashing it down. The diagonal shadow from the barn door leads the eye out of the picture plane. I really love the the detail in the barn and the stream in front is really beautiful. Overall I think the painting is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
