Hi, I have been traveling a lot this summer - trying to stay out of the heat.  I have this plein air painting I did a few weeks ago - before I went to San Diego and wanted to get some help.  This painting is:  9" x 12", O/B.  It is a desert scene of a Palo Verde in bloom.  Thanks for your help in advance.

jdpainter,  two things bother me in this painting: the white clouds behind the plant have an edge that is too even and seems to hang/catch on the plant (do you know what I mean);  I would like to see more foreground  and depth in the overall painting.   Your colors are vibrant; I can feel the desert heat!

I agree with Charl. You might want to paint a small amount of clouds past the branch. To me it looks like the bush is smoking.

No matter how good you are at texture to make a tree look real if it fits in a circle it will not be an appealing shape. Take some bites out of the shape to make it more interesting.
