I have never had anything of mine critiqued by a professional, but I do have thick skin, so go ahead...let me have it. The frame is 64 segments, 32" wide. The picture is 600 individual pieces of wood, all natural in color.

I'm no professional but your piece is beautiful and very different. The mirror makes it difficult to look at JUST your inlay. For example I see another wood piece in the background of this picture. However, it's just wonderful... a real magical fairy piece!! You should be very proud. |

| This is beautiful. Excellent work. I can see why you would need the hard lead for the pencil. Do you draw your work freehand first? Welcome to the forum. There is always someone here that will lend a helping hand. I find it a great place to be. Hope to see more of your art. |

| Thanx. Not the greatest quality photo, a bit blurry, but a difficult photo to capture without me being in the photo. I'll be competing with this at a show in Wisconsin next month. I do free hand draw my picture before taking it to wood. I'm quite the amateur with a pencil. It can come so easy sometimes, and other times it's like wrestling a grizzly bear. I know what I know from trial and error mostly, so I'll be absorbing peoples questions and answers about using a pencil. I'm also just an amateur carver, and have only carved 3 faces, but in the carver forums some of the experts same I'm an expert, although I don't know diddly about it, don't know what the tools are or anything, just lucky natural ability...so I'm lurking there too. You can't ever educate yourself enough...just keep learning and keep practicing. I consider everything I've ever done to be just practice so far. I do often wonder, when is the practice finished ? So many things a person wants to do, and never enough time. |
