It does depend on what I am working on, but I also did an entire series that I named after the song that inspired me, with either the song title or section of lyrics. Imogen Heap actually took a lot of the credit for the pieces in that series.... haha...

OOooo yes! Music!
My favorits songs to listen to are these CDs I use for my piano practice. They are professional recordings of the music books I work from. So the four generas of piano- Baroque, classical, romantic, and modern.
Also, music from Bach, Mozart, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Greig, Chopin, Lizst and others like them.
I love music from broadway musicals; phantom of the opera, Josephs amazing technicolored dream coat, sound of music, lion king, grease, cats, ...

But my most favorite music of all time is ABBA.....'nough said.

Ohhhh yeah - I always listen to music - especially when making art. Mostly I listen to metal or rock (have an embarrassing weakness for Glam rock) and the music I'm currently 'into' definitely affects my art.

Soft dreamy painting require maybe... Marilyn Manson or Rammstein??? LOL nah I'm playing with ya there! lol For dreamy, I'll listen to maybe Air or Joni Mitchelle or some rock ballards... I love fun lyrics, The Bloodhound Gang are a big passion of mine, as is Alice Cooper... and like I said metal!

Not mad....just drawn that way!

I am new here but not new to paint. When I paint, I like to listen to music with energy. Prefernece to obscure rock such as Tool, Tenacious D, Sabbath...depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel like Natalie Merchant...just depends.

What a great topic!  I loved hearing everyone's choices.

This may sound weird, but I listen to everything from heavy

metal, to Celtic, to folk, to pop (not necessarily in that order).

It all depends on what mood I'm in and what I'm painting.

Softer paintings (most florals and landscapes) tend to require

Bob Dylan, Celtic (I highly recommend Altan), Fleetwood Mac,

Etc...  On the other hand, most of my fantasy work calls for

Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Foreigner, even some AC/DC!

The only thing I can't handle is rap. It's usually too violent

and crass. Happy painting everyone!

It depends on the mood.  I like some old Misfits or some Primus, Tool Deftones.  A lot of times I'll listen to talk radio.  I like the conspiracy nuts that talk about UFOs and stuff.  Still other times, I'll listen to podcast about science and technology.

usually I listen to Korn, Metallica, or any sort of lively song, such as Lady GaGa's Poker Face.
