Hello. Joni Mitchell, especially the album "Ladies of the Canyon" gets my gears turning every time. So does Tori Amos' "Scarlet's Walk" and "Beekeeper."
Neil Young, Sting, and Loreena McKennitt are good ones too. |

Hello, There's an album that I listen to quite often, it's 'Devotion', by Aaron Neville. It seems to deal with his life before and after his conversion to Christianity, and listening to it , you can feel his emotions throughout.I've always enjoyed his voice, but but this is truely touching. Enjoy.

| it depends upon what I'm working on. Sometimes I just need quiet cello or violin music in the background.
My recent favourite is
Alehandro Escovedo's "Book of Songs". Saw him live a few weeks ago and he simply knocked my socks off. He's got a completly unique sound and I've heard few musicians blend such emotion and originality into their music. Awesome stuff. |

if you like celtic or world music...then try MacRimmons Revenge..the Ransom.It is a great mix of lowland bagpipes, cello, digerdoo, bodhran, tin whistle, flute, banjo, guitar and other instuments...I think several types of drums. They also have a second album out and are promoting it on their website. It too is very creative and inspiring.

its funny how i too play different music for different times, either the same painting or another...depends on my mood....
many times i will llisten to native american flute music...some samples of the music i listen to can be asscessed here:

also love anything saxaphone and adore nora jones...but then there are times i cant get enough classical...whatever music i chose though...i definetly feel more insync when painting with music!... |

| I have found that listening to Loreena McKennitt's music has put me in the 'zone' when painting. At times I will also listen to other music, but her music seems to lead me to what I want to accomplish in my paintings. |

| I'm a songwriter and a painter so I'm usually doing both at the same time. My PC is next to my drawing table and I switch back and forth because I find that one media inspires the other. If I just want to listen to music while I'm working it's either The Band, Dylan or Townes Van Zandt |

I couldn't draw for several years and only after being on the concert of the RL in St. Petersburg this summer i've started to draw like a mashine. I'm so happy i can do it again. Besides my style has changed a lot.
This is the real proof of the music power on our minds.

i like to listen to animal collective. i like the stuff off of feels. it reminds me of being little and happy. it reminds me of coloring in the rain. reading books with a flashlight.
sigur ros' is also very good and inspiring also very uplifiting. |

I listen to lots of music. But one of my favorites is Kirk Franklin. Most of the time it is anything with a awesome BEAT.

| Most of my creativity is done under the influence of Sting; I can accomplish great things when he's playing. When I'm at a stage when I can work and not have to think and concentrate too much, I put on Rod Stewart's American Classic series and sing along; they take me back in time. Then there are days when Nora Jones, Josh Grobin and Andrea Bocelli are played back-to-back. |

The music that I listen to always depends on the mood I am in at the moment. Lately while working I've been listening a lot to Keiko Matsui - she plays piano beautifully, and when I am in a wild mood - I recommend Kamelot - very powerful sound!
I was very amused this week at the opening of my second exhibition, when I met this old painter and he recommended Wagner as a background for my art making... Obviously more drama needed.. |

Sometimes I listen to Jazz, Latin Jazz, & Classical music, but usually, & as weird as this may sound, I listen mostly to taped lectures of the various Art History courses I took as an undergraduate at New Jersey City University (with the very insightful & humorous Dr. Jose Rodeiro). For some reason, this relaxes me & throughout my drawing or painting sessions, I'll burst out laughing at one of the jokes that the professor has said about an artist or their situation. It also functions as a constant reminder of different artists throughout the different historical periods of art -Alfredo Gomez Jr.
