I find that there is a painting, drawing, song or whatever waiting around every corner.

My inspiration comes from simple landscapes, people milling around, animals being animals (sometimes people being animals), the way the sky looks at a certain time of day...just about anything! I always carry a small digital camera with me where ever I go and it never fails, there is always something to shoot. I use to work for a water facility in Denver CO and right on the grounds in the middle of the city foxes would set up their dens every year. I spent hours taking photos down there in the evenings. Last year there was a black kit born and I got several shots of him, it was exciting to see him among all of the red kits!

Up here the landscape is so beautiful. My mind fills with ideas as I drive to town and back. I think about how this field would look with a deer or two in it, how that cow looks like a person I know, or how that barn has so many colors and hues at dusk. Not to mention the hardwood forests in fall!

There is a painting waiting around every bend in the road...every where you look, there is something waiting to be painted, drawn, wriiten about or sung about...

"You either grow or regress...nothing stays the same...." (unknown)
"A man may fall several times in life, but he is not a failure until he says that he was pushed..."

Mike, I have my digital camera with me everywhere I go also, later when transferring to the computer. I know exactually why I took each and everyone of those photos, the way the sun glanced off the the tops of the weeds in front of a shadowed hollow or even the widows watch atop a breath taking older home. Driving around a country road coming accross a relic of a barn, light whispering into it just enough to see the old truck that been there for decades.
My drive to work is to short on those mornings of misty momements or the sycamores bark, and the snow dusting that covered everything in detail. Ice forming on the side of the mountain, trees strecthing out to get a touch of the sun while anchored to edges of ledges...I'd like to get closer to see how those roots wrap around, twist and turn.......now, see..... i got to go paint, 7AM the suns not up yet and in my mind I can see and smell the nature. We are expecting a snow storm today and it's gona' be a beauty....for real.

Why wait for inspiration? Isn't it about dragging something spectacular up from the least promising position, when all seems lost? Nature is a bit short around here, and there's no point in waiting for something to strike. It's a thicket of street signs and a forest of street furniture I'm looking through.
