Hello,
Your administrator is doing an extreme makeover. Instead of posting under the rather formidable user name of Administrator, I'll be posting as friendly, approachable Holly (not that I wasn't friendly, before--I just didn't appear that way, perhaps). You'll also notice that I've given myself an avatar (identity photo). No more hiding in anonymity.
I'm also going to be posting on this Message Board News forum more frequently, so check back often.
By the way, I've noticed that All-Media Paint-Off Challenge #12 hasn't had a single entry, even though it's been up for over a month. That either means you're busy painting an entry or I really goofed in selecting a painting topic. Maybe a bit of both. Well, if you're busy painting an entry, please finish and post your work. After all, if there are only a few entries, you have all the better chance of winning that $50 certificate for North Light books, right? But if you just can't bring yourself to tackle Challenge #12, take a look at the brand new Challenge #13--Spring Nonfloral.
Have you seen Bpier's step-by-step demonstration of his beautifully serene oil landscape? If not, you've got to check it out! Just click here. I'd love to see more of you put up step-by-step demos—or post other images or information that gives users more insight into your technique. I suspect most ArtistNetwork members would enjoy that—am I right?
That's all the news and observations for now—but I'll be back before too long.
Happy Painting!

Hi Holly , nice to 'see' you.
have checked out Bpier's demonstration and though I'm not an oil painter I found it very interesting and informative . What about artists giving learning demos that not only show the artist's techniques but have others ( if interested ) painting along with the artist? and posting their finished paintings in a specific thread ? would that be appropriate/approved in the forums here ?

Sorry to be so long in replying to you, Claire, Kassie and Pearl. I left town for a few days and didn't have email access. Thanks for the good words.
Pearl, your forum idea sounds interesting. I'd like to know what the interest is out there. Who would be willing to post learning demos? Who would be willing to paint along and post their resulting creation? Reply on this forum so I get a sense of the interest, and we'll go from there.

Holly , I would be willing to do a learning demo in watercolour if there was any interest and I am always willing to learn something new in watercolour or even a bit of mixed media. Perhaps though, at this time there would not be enough interest in learning demos.

Pearl Maybe the best way to guage interest is to simply put the demo up on the watercolor forum and see what happens. There's a sort of if-you-create-it-they-will-come principle at work. From what I've observed, demos are always appreciated.
