One of the most popular forums in Artist's Network is the All-Media Paint-Off. About every two months I need to come up with a new challenge for this competition. As much as I enjoy this task, it occurs to me that other members probably have some great ideas, too.
Here's your chance to suggest them--just add a message to this thread. If I select your idea, I'll give you credit when the challenge is announced.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.

| How about a challenge based on color. You (the admin) pick three colors and we the artists do a painting only using those three colors. Paintings have to be new works, after all, it is a challenge. Allow tonal values of the three colors. Any darks have to be made by using only the three colors. Any subject can be painted. |

Great suggestion, Jim. Since you're the only one who's offered a suggestion so far, I'll take you up on the three-color idea for the next challenge. That challenge will start after the Spring Nonfloral, which I think ends in about a month.

| Recently I had a challenge to work with enviroment friendly designs.E.g. Using food dyes,natural dyes and natural tools(e.g hair,fingers,sticks,newsprints,etc).This was to create awareness to many designers/fellow artist out there to discover new earth friendly ways to paint.It was a good challenge that I would love to do again.Maybe one day you would consider this idea.Thanks Holly.Cheers! |

how about an " Ugly Duckling " subject/centre of interest. with the artist choosing an unusual/ugly as possible subject , something that one would not normally paint and with good composition and paint transforming it into a thing of beauty ? perhaps posting the 'before' ugly ref photo plus the finished masterpiece.
One could have a few other objects in the composition but the " Ugly " must be the main star. |

| How about painting a scene from your favorite book and have the book identified and describe the feeling it gave the artist. |

Another great idea, Deniselite! Depicting something felt or brought to mind by a piece of music would be a possible variation.
