Hello and thanks for having us. I'm a digital artist and work with the Unique Futuristic Oasis. The Unique Futuristic Oasis or UFO (pronounced U-fo) announced today the launch of a partnership to co-manage a global social arts network with Escape Artists http://www.EscapeArtists.co.uk/, located at the very “Newtopian” global website http://SocialArtsNetwork.ning.com/.
In an ongoing effort to develop multiple avenues that bring artists and art enthusiasts together, the UFO and Escape Artists’ has now launched the world's first web-based social arts network dedicated to social art networking in all its forms. The Social Arts Network will allow independent artists from all over the world to directly present their creations to art enthusiasts and others in the arts community. The art community now has a unique venue to both exchange ideas and to buy and sell works of art and associated services. Unlike other social networks, the Social Arts Network is focused solely on the global art community.
The UFO and Escape Artists’ are united in the belief that the arts, and arts education, significantly contribute to achieving the amelioration of major social problems, fostering community cohesion, regeneration and greater social inclusion, and contributing to the wellbeing of those who find themselves at the extreme end of the spectrum - people impacted by homelessness or mental health issues. Arts-based education therefore holds a prominent place in the Social Arts Network for artists and art lovers. Our platform is one of the most distinctive pieces of our cause. It truly is a huge leap forward in our efforts to re-create the way people view, buy and sell art. The new Social Arts Network is a truly global art community that not only provides links to information, but more importantly, links between people. All things creative will now be available worldwide through the Social Arts Network community.
How to Get Started
The Social Arts Network is easy to use and membership is free. To get started, visit
http://SocialArtsNetwork.ning.com/ and create a profile. Next, simply invite any friends in the arts and others of participatory interest to join your network. The new Social Arts Network uses and is built on a platform similar to other well-known social networks, such as MySpace, Facebook and YouTube. Social Arts Network supports both still images and video and has been developed to scale easily to support actively extensive global growth of the network.
About Unique Futuristic Oasis, Inc. (www.TheUFO.org)
The UFO connects artists and helps promote their work in order to generate funds and attention to deserving talent in the arts network. The UFO also produces a range of multi-cultural programs including artist documentary videos, live and collaborative paintings, artist collections, artist interviews, live concerts, and other art centric content. In addition, the company showcases new artists, special exhibits, and celebrity events in various markets in the United States and Internationally.
Social Arts Network gatherings provide an opportunity for artists, cultural workers, educators, community members and invited guests to come and meet together daily, stimulating participatory collaborative art. It brings an international focus to the artist(s) and communities of each profile visited, allowing an in-depth learning exchange between local and international participants. Over the course of two years, through the generous and critical support of Escape Artists, in particular, we were able to achieve our goals.
In an effort to understand the current circumstances of artists in communities, we recognized that reality contrasts with an ideal vision. As we weigh positive and negative forces, the core concerns that emerged included:
• the need for adequate and consistent training for artists
• the need for strong national and international networks of resources
• the need for partners who can leverage new financial resources for artists
• the need to learn from and exchange with others related to arts and culture both in the U.S. and abroad
With a focus on these concerns, four action steps emerged as priorities:
• Utilize existing learning and training opportunities for all artists
• Develop networks with arts partners, both nationally and internationally
• Identify new and existing intermediaries and motivate them
• Develop new kinds of research that focus on arts-based learning in the arts
Take part in the arts and join now!
