Hey guys. I've never been to an artist forum or anything like that so...bear with me. My name is Josh, I'm 20 years old, in the Navy. Ive been in for 10 months now...and already have been through quite a lot. Ive been designing for a few years now. Mainly a graphic designer on my computer.
The thing is. There's no art in the Navy that I've seen. Most people don't really understand me when I bring up art in conversation. I guess I'm just trying to find something good in this forum...
In this link there's a face to go with my name... http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c16/joshmullis88/joshvalleycopy.jpg

Welcome, Josh,
You'll get your "art tonic" here, alright. Hope you'll also share some of your own graphic designs.

Hi Josh.....welcome! You have a great opportunity to create military art (if that interests you). I've read posts from a few artists on wetcanvas.com who do pen & ink artwork .....drawing planes and helicopters, etc. I guess there is a nice little market for that stuff if you're into drawing it. But maybe you're looking to do something entirely different? Looking forward to seeing your posts whatever you choose to create.

Welcome Josh, I was stationed at Pt. Loma on a torpedo retriever. After this winter, I wish I was still down there!

so, hey i am an artist in miami i studied art and design but made my living as a realtor, a good honest one, and i work backstage doing mostly lighting etc. I started in Key West painting, and it has been quite the adventure. People that are artists have more senses and awareness we need to express ourselves and we feel better . Even if you draw in pencil , charcoal or ink you will find that u are evolving. I learned a lot from magazines and the North Light Book of Painting Techniques . Yes really good luck stay tuned and if you like visit artid.com/samikwest and see some of my work |

I was in the Navy stationed in Norfolk Va on a helicopter carrier many years ago. I did some oil painting while on the ship and although there wasn't other artists that were part of my group, there was a lot of interest in seeing the process. I did even get a commission to do a portrait of a fellow seaman's daughter.
So I would suggest that you do your thing and let others see the work. That will generate interest and create some understanding and appreciation of what you do.
BTW, I would love to see some of your work posted here. |
