Hi, My name is Kathy and I live in the beautiful
Pacific Northwest. I have been trying to open up new avenues in my art to
build up some momentum. I took an illustration course about 5 years
ago, and just as I was about through, my teacher encouraged me to go
into fine art... and I wanted to start learning about Oils. I haven't
finished anything in a long time, so my goal this year is to make
things happen. I had fun doing a chalk art festival for the first time, so am working on getting myself "out there...." I
just finished my first oil, and will post it today under the Oils Forum. I hope you find it
interesting.
This is a Gouache painting of my Great Grandfather's
violin, my Grandmother's vase, and my Great Aunt's Brass Candle
Holder. I call it "Heirlooms."
This really seems to be a nice way of connecting with other artists. I look forward to making your acquaintances. |

This is a beautiful Gouache Painting. It looks like a beautiful photograph. Bur a photographer wouldn't be able to light this still life to capture the whole thing so beautifully. You should post under Watercolor and Gouache. I think you made a mistake when you referred to it as an oil.

I'm sorry, I guess I should have written that a little differently..... I am just posting the Gouache painting to let you see what I've done in the past. The oil painting that I finished I did post under Oils.
Thank you for the compliments. I should say that the "Heirlooms" painting was more of a mixed media, as I used acrylics for the wall in the background, and finished with an airbrush for the shadows on the wall....
