I am addicted to this site! I have spent hours checking out everyone's work and reading posts. The talent here is inspiring. I am having a hard time finding suitable art classes so I am hoping to learn alot here. Like someone else said earlier, all my feedback comes from well-meaning friends and family so real critiques are rare!

I gave pretty much learned on my own so I probably have developed some bad habits but, oh well....The biggest problem I have is loosening up enough to enjoy myself instead of frustrating myself with exact details. I have moved from watercolor to oils thinking it would help. It didn't. I still fuss too much.

Anyway....I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful works of art and chatting with you all and of course posting some of my own for some serious critique!

Hi Tami - Welcome Aboard - I find the forum has helped me in many ways... not giving up, reworking my paintings, looking at my art differently, taking the time to slow down and look at what I'm painting. I can't say enough... it's a great place to start.

Maggie,

Thanks! I really have enjoyed watching your progression through "Mud Lake". It really is helpful so thanks for posting your progress!

Thanks, I love the feedback myself and take it very seriously. I'm learning to loosen up a bit and not worry so much about each little detail. I think the 'one-a-week painting' which is started in 'oils' will help me very much as you don't have time to do those details but get the idea down. Hope to see more of your paintings online.

Hey Tami!

Welcome to a fellow self-taught, tight brushed, bad habit artsit from one in the same! I feel your pain.
You should get some helpful, honest & friendly critiques here. Most people and some artists are always afraid of stepping on toes, so they tend to go light on the critiques. At least that's what I've found in my 'art' life.
It's a good thing to be open to opinions/critiques on your art. Most people here are willing to share their opinions in a friendly way, so join in and have fun!
