Help me! Anyone! I am an artist I know that in my heart, I have a degree on my wall that says I am very acomplished in fine arts. I can draw, paint, color and paste with the best of them. I have a camera and I know how to use it! but..... My life has been turned upside down, I work as a nurse so I can pay the bills. I have sooooo little time for myself that I hardly every indulge myself in my art anymore. I know I still cam but I don't know how to get back in the game. Last time this happened to me I went back to school. This time I need to find self motivation and insperation. I live outside of a very large artist community but I am afraid to interject myself, take free classes that sorta thing, join a group, I don't know I what I am scared of. Anyone out there got some inspiring words? I miss myself and my paints and my camera. |

FREE classes!! Where do YOU live I also have a large art community nearby, but all the classes are too pricey for me. I also have a degree in art. Up until last week, I was a stay-at-home mom, but now working a few days per week. So I understand how you feel about finding the time to do your artwork. Everyday that I don't get to work on my art, feels like a day wasted. My suggestion....you like taking pictures.......take a walk and just snap away! When you are done, look thru them and see if you find one that really inspires you. Make a sketch, choose a medium, and then work on it as much as you want/can every day. Once you get back into it, you might find that you really look forward to your "art time" everyday. Sometimes I find that I get "caught up" THINKING about working on my art and not enough time just DOING it. When I realize that....I immediately grab my latest project and work, work, work. Then I feel like I accomplished something for the day Good luck!

Perhaps sometimes not being able to work on your art is a mental problem. If you say you don't have time, then you are mentally programming yourself to believe you don't have time. I was like this before. When I look back I was in a confused mental state and surrounded my negative people. I think with the right motivation, time management and mental focus you will be creating art again in no time. Good luck to you!

Berly! Hi! I Totally understand what you are going thru! I am a new member of this group, and was going to post a similar Q.. I've been out of art for 20+ years, life just happened, and art got put on the back burner..I worked on art sporadically, but am just now wanting to be serious again, my head is full of images, to the point of major distraction! So I began a landscape, acrylic, the underpainting very loose..That was one day.. The following week, I re-worked the painting, again one day.. tomorrow I plan to work on the painting, again, one day, tweaking some things, reworking others if needed...One day at a time, if that's what works for you..Also, posting your works in progress may help, show your steps, I am doing this on Art Calendar's site, have gotten positive feedback, and it really jazzes me when other artists have nice things to say to me! Hope my rambling helps you, please continue to create! jeanette |
