Hi there. I'm a Professor (aka total science geek) who decided to exercise the other side of my brain and began oil painting about 10 years ago. Discovered there truly is an artists in all of us and though every painting is a struggle for me, I'll never give up the quest. Moved to an out of the way town a few months ago and have had no luck whatsoever finding an adult art class/artists around here. Ran across your forum today and decided to jump in and join. Looking forward to learning/sharing/chatting with everyone. Thanks ahead of time for all your help - when it comes to painting, I seriously need it! Ruth

Hi Ruth! Welcome and jump right in...the water is just right in this pool! There are lots of friendly, talented and helpful artists here. I agree with you on "an artist in everyone"....seems we all just have to make that first stroke and the artist in us comes out.
Can't wait to see your work!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your reply. I've been enjoying looking at all the art posted here but don't know what to do to post some of mine. Never posted anything but text messages on an internet board before. Is there a post on the board somewhere with instructions how to do this? I'd like to hear what everyone has to say. Particularly on my latest painting which is almost there - maybe even there - not quite sure yet.

I'm a physician so I can relate to how different science and art are compared to each other!! Under the forum headings, click on FAQ's and that will help you. If not, email me or post back here. Good luck!!

Hi Joy, Mike
OK, I got the instructions. Sounds very straightforward. Now I just have to figure out how to get a painting or two digitized. I'm still in the process of unpacking and know not where my digital camera is. If I don't come across it soon, I may have to see about scanning one of my paintings. Wonder what the file size would be if I try scanning.
