My name is Will.

I am new member from Providence, RI.

I am amatuer artist. I have no formal training other than at age 5 going to children's classes at a museum in Greenville S.C.. I enjoy working with graphite pencil, pastel, colored pencil, and dabble a little with watercolor. Primarially I try to do realistic portraits, but many have a medieval or fantasy feel to them and end up more as illustrative works. I am looking to learn, I want to learn methods for realistic expression. I don't want to copy photos, but I do want my work to have a clear realistic quaility - I have a long way to go.

Artist that inspire me are Rembrant and other dutch masters (During College I worked as a securtiy gaurd in the Durch Masters gallery of a museum).  I have a taste for the WPA school. I love the works of John Singer Sargent. I am infulenceed by and often try to copy the works of Howard Pyle, N.C, Weyth of the Brandwine School; and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt of the Pre-Raphelite Brotherhood. Plus, I like the art of the Renaisance and many later medieval works.

Regards,
Will

John Singer Sargent is one of my favorites too, I've copied two of his works.
Would love to see some of your paintings.
