Hello all
I live in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. According to my mom I have been drawing ever since I could first lift a pencil. As a kid I was very interested in cartooning and such but never really pursued a career in art. Instead I went to drafting school with the idea of going into technical illustration but wound being a draftsman for the last 35 years or so. I did some oil painting and watercolors about for a while when I was in my early 20s and a lot of my paintings hang on the walls of my friends and family. I also did quite a few murals on people's walls. But then I got interested in playing the guitar and found all of my spare time devoted to that pursuit. I played in several bands over the years, mostly blues and such but then lost interest in that. I started doing pen and ink drawings using rapidograph pens and did that off and on for years. In the past few months I have gone back to painting, this time using acrylics per the request of my wife who thinks oils would be too smelly since I do all of my painting in the family room on a small easel that I sit on my ottoman. Acrylics have been a real learning experince for me since they tend to dry so quickly but with each new painting I feel that I am beginning to grasp the technique. I do mostly landscape painting similar to that done by Jerry Yarnell and Roger Bansemer. I plan to do a lot of painting and then when I retire in a few years maybe have time to show and sell my work. Well, that's about it. It's nice to find a community that supports our artistic endeavors. |
