Hi to all!  I thought I would jump into the fray and make some contact with other artists.  My primary source of income is painting commissioned portraits.  I paint them from folks from all over the world, but mostly in the good ol' USA.  I also paint quite a few subjects that are not people, but they are all commissioned, as well.

Since I teach (I have a video course on DVDs), I talk to quite a few artists and some absolutely HATE portraiture.  One guy gave me a terrific quote.  He said, "If I have to paint little kiddies and old biddies, you may as well take me out and shoot me."  I loved that!  The thing is, I'm passionate about painting people.  I'm endlessly fascinated with faces and the human form.  Obviously, he didn't share that fascination!

I do have one question.  Since I use TruPaint, which has as it's core the Painter computer program, am I relegated to the digital forum, only?  My work gets transferred to canvas where I finish it with real brushes and real medium and is indistinguishable from oil on canvas.  It's not a big deal for me.  I'm just curious.

Here's a painting I did for Ellen DeGeneres.

Hi TPA.....

Welcome to the forum. This is an incredible painting! I don't know anything about TruePaint. You might want to post this again IN the digital art forum and ask the question there. More people probably frequent that forum than the Welcome Wagon and would have an immediate answer for you. Nice work!!!

Thanks Jess.  I guess I should put a link to my website so folks can find out more about TruPaint if they're curious.  It's www.trupaint.com.  I think I can add that as a signature, but again, I'm a newbie when it comes to forums.

Is Tru paint like a wwaacomm tablet?  With brushes? stylus or what

Are you a graphic designer?  Do you paint off the computer too?

Which do you like best?  I have used Waacomm tablet but definately prefer the standin up painting on canvas or wood method w2ith my whole body not just arms.

Nice picture though How big is it? Did you get a ton on money for it?

Hi Sherry,

Thanks for your comments.  TruPaint is a system for creating paintings on canvas that begin with a photo in the computer.  You need to use a Wacom tablet for painting in the virtual world.  Using a mouse is like trying to paint with a 2x4.

Since TruPaint is a hybrid process, it's painted first in the computer, then again on the real canvas. The end result looks exactly like it was painted on canvas in the first place, but is about 10 times as fast.

Check it out at my website - www.trupaint.com
