My name is Randall Klopping. For me art is an escape from the endless hours of pain and from the problems multiple disabilities cause. It is a means for me to focus my turbulent mind and to work hard to be able to contribute to society.
My favorite thing is to play with patterns & color; Symmetrical patterns, abstract patterns, even patterns that create an illusion that is recognized. Also enjoyable is manipulating photos into digital paintings, currently working on works of some of the worlds Storm Chasers.
If you'd like to come see the Intricate Insanity that I create, you can visit me at http://teknowizard.imagekind.com/ or my personal site (under construction) http://KloppingArt.com/

| Although I know NOTHING about digital art, if that's a sample of your work it is beautiful. You'll find the people on this site very friendly and helpful. It's a great place to call "home". Will look for more of your work. |

Thanks Myrn.
Don't feel bad, I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the art world. I used to do airbrush murals on walls and vehicles and sometimes canvas but after my spine was crushed in a accident, I can't sit or stand for more than very short periods, so I turned to digital art.
This one is titled "Underwater Fractal Painting" and is an art style I think I started. Each component (fish, plants, rock formation, etc.) is a seperate fractal and then I assembled together to create the illusion. It took over 100 hours to create this one. One of my friends intends to purchase a very large print to use as a backdrop for the new salt water aquarium he is going to be putting in his office.

I'm with Myrna...technology is out there is the dark somewhere. I'm luck and blessed to be able to push actual paint about. It's hard enough. I don't think I will graduate to the digital world in this life.

Hi Randall....
Checked out your website. Nice work! I think the pictures of the lightning are my favorites. I admittedly don't know very much about digital art, but I liked your pictures very much. Welcome!

Thanks Tim,
I can't blame anyone for not wanting to switch to digital. While there are some advantages to digital art as to what my imagination can create, there also seems to be a heavy prejudice to it in the art world. I switched out of necessity because the constant pain makes my hands shake and just couldn't do good smooth even airbrush strokes anymore. If I every start earning some money I intend to invest in a pressure sensitive tablet so I can do freehand work like I used to paint.
However, one of the advantages in the digital world for me is what are refered to as Fractals. Since I have no budget for software I use a free software called Apophysis, which is a fractal flame generator (often refered to as flames). It is designed to generate random patterns but the developers of the software also designed it so that it can be approached from a 3D mathmatical manner which is what I do. With my mental disablilities I see things in patterns, much like I have heard Autistic people do. So for me, Apo is a blessing because I can finally play & create in a manner I never could before. I'll post the abstract I did last night for I would never have done something like this in my airbrush days. |

Hi Jess,
Thanks... The lightning artworks are based on the photography of a storm chaser in Australia named Michael Bath. He let me play with some of his lesser photos and I am enlarging & cropping some of his best ones for him to offer as prints. Though one, Storm in the Night, is a freehand attempt and not a photo. It is a bit rough but it is not so easy painting with your thumb using a trackball.
I noticed you handle, does that mean you're married to a Minnesota Viking, as in football? I'm not much of a sports fan but since I was born in Minneapolis, I basically consider the Vikings my team. Just curious... LOL

Nice work Randall. I have a look at your site and the Apophysis, website. It is amazing all that is out there in cyber space. Everything seems to limitless. I find it all to overwhelming something. One really have to take a step back and enjoy the things they like to work with the most. Will look forward to seeing more of your work. Welcome to the forum. Johanna |

Thanks Gene,
Michael Bath gets most of the credit for the lightning ones, they are manipulations of his photography. The scifi ones are my favorite to make. I'll be posting the one I finished this morning in the digital art catagory later today so everyone can see it.

Hi Randall...
First....I like the picture you posted in your response to Tim. I love the shapes, colors and patterns that you use in your work. I am not married to one of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. My husband's whole family is Swedish....so they love ANYTHING having to do with vikings. I'm French/German myself, but I thought my hubby would find it cute if I used vikingwife for my handle. It is funny to go to his reunions......everyone is tall, mostly with blond hair and blue eyes. And then there's little me....5'4, brown hair and hazel eyes! I stick out like a sore thumb!!

Hi Randall, First of all, your work is amazing. Light and color. It's a visual buffet. You may not use a brush, pencil or pen, but you are an artist. Thank you for allowing us to see your work. Jim

Thanks Jim,
Sorry I can't respond properly. been dealing with gang & drug addict problems and this morning one smashed the windshield of my truck. I have to find some way to borrow enough money to move and try to find a place I get to have my home. I won't get to post for awhile and to any other members here that I didn't get to say hi to or welcome, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to. |
