My name is Myrna. I'm having quite a time figuring out what I should be doing here. So, sorry if I hit the wrong button or end up in the wrong place. Not only new here, but to this computer world as well. I've been painting off and on for about 35 years, time off to raise 2 energetic boys, etc.  Now I'm retired hope to get back at it more regularly.  Confidence level is down, but hopefully will return.  Graphite has been my medium for a few years now, so paint scares me a bit right now. But I WILL overcome that. Am reconnecting with artist friends, which I find helps alot creatively and as a confidence builder. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Ta

HI, Myrna! Welcome! Bet you have a lot of lovely scenery to draw from in Nova Scotia.
When I get nervous about a new medium, I just use old paper plates and cheap canvas to
try out every possibility until I feel confident that i know my medium well. Confidence
comes from knowledge, I believe. I am sure you will do well as you have the right
attitude! Best from Bright

Welcome Myrna! I know how you feel. I am pretty confident with pen & ink......but after seeing some of the work on this site.....I am inspired to try other mediums as well. I think the thing to keep in mind when you are trying a new medium......try to commit yourself to finishing at least 3 projects in the new medium before deciding whether or not you like it. It's frustrating when people try something once ....and if they're not PERFECT on the first try, they give up. I like this site because I know that the people here will be honest and helpful when it comes to their comments and crits. Would love to see some of your graphite work before you delve into something else
