I am new to this forum and have posted a couple of times and just noticed the introduction section. I guess I've gone about things a bit backwards!

I am a working mom with little time to paint. I took a 15 year hiatus to complete my education and have a family and now finally have some time to paint again. I look forward to meeting many of you on the forum and to your feedback. Any comments/ideas about how to work full time, parent and find time to paint would be helpfull.

Bye for now, Raechel

Hi, Raech! Congradulations on being a mom! I have big advise, but would never tell you what to do or how,
here are my ideas for you to consider. First, have a great inspiration. Maybe you want to paint your children at play.
So set aside two hours each week. Say, 8-10 am on Saturday. Put some cereal and fruit out for the kids breakfast,
then steal away to your corner or studio place and don't do anything but prepare and paint. If your schedule won't permit two hours, then make it 15 minutes a day or week..whatever will work, but set that time the same every day or week and stick to it unless there is a major emergency that cannot wait. If your medium doesn't allow for working
a bit at a time, get one that does! Remember, you rule your art, it doesn't rule you. Hope that helps and best of all to you!

Hello Raechel,

I understand your pain.   I did that for a while too; especially when my two girls were new born.  One year, I work full time.  Talk about juggling and balancing haha!  But think of the wonderful things that you creating;  good thing never come easy.  Just take a deep breath then take the next step; once in a while, take a break and look around you, sketch or draw something, you'll feel better.  That's all you could do.  Keep smiling,

Hi Raechel......

I'm in the same boat. I haven't accomplished much artistically in the last 10 years. I was working immediately after college......then got married...then two kids (now 2 and 4). My husband works 6-7 days a week. So with daily household stuff and children to entertain all day......there is precious little time left for myself. And if there IS time.....boy could I use a nap! But I try to get some work done in the hours after the kids go to bed. I'm not always consistent, but I would say I work at least 4 nights a week. Helps me reconnect with myself so I feel like a person again......instead of just someone's mom! Hope you can make time for yourself too!

Hi Raechel
Can't help much on how to keep juggling your time but would like to welcome you and look forward to seeing some of your work. Nice to see another Canadian member. Good luck with your efforts. Your art time can be very therapeudic and relaxing if you don't over do it. Hope it works for you. Bob
