Hi All,

Just wanted to say " Good Morning."  All the paintings are packed and preparations are made and we leave this afternoon Eufaula for my first art show.  As the time to leave grows closer I get more nervous.  This fourm is such a easy atmosphere to show artwork, but I don't know what to expect down there and not knowing always makes me nervous.  If I didn't know better I'd think I was getting ready to give birth again for the first time. LOL.  I even dreamed about this all night, crazy dreams, but at least I did sleep.  Well wish me luck, or have a good thought, or prayer for me over the next three days and I'll let you know how it went when I get back.

Happy Painting

Peggy

Well, I'm back. Didn't have the greatest time. We got washed out on Saturday which would have been our best day. That's when all the bus tours come in and since it rained all day they didn't come out and neither did we. Some foot traffic on Friday and even less on Sunday. I did manage to sell one piece, but was totally dissappointed in the judging. The fellow who got best of show really deserved it, his artwork was nothing short of amazing. My only complaint was that they only had one judge and she wasn't hardly old enough to be out of diapers, much less judging art. I felt she didn't even give some of the artist there a fair look, she just walked on by several of the artists displays. I have about decided that the best judge of someones art is the one who wants to take it home. I sure learned a lot, like a three day show is a lot of work, especially when you have to set up and take down each day. Don't think I want to do that again. I did get several requests for portraits. Now we'll see how that pans out.
All in all, not a great time, but a really good learning experience.

Hi Peggy - thanks for sharing all this with us. Kudos for trying to do a show. I have never had the nerve yet to do one - maybe this summer. You never know, alot of people just walk by because there is so much to see, but they do catch you on your website and follow up that way. So, my question is, how many paintings did you need to do a show? 12 or more?
