where does everyone else find copyright free images that they use???

for those of you who do merchandising (prints etc) do you find that these images are ok to use for your work or do you still contact the photographer for permission to use????

There's a Reference Image Library (RIL) on WetCanvas.
You may need to create an account on the site (if you don't already have one) and login first. You'll want to read the text at the top of the page that addresses merchandising.
