Help!

I am about to enter my first juried art show (can submit three digital entries painted within inthe past two years) and am puzzled about something.  The entry form asks for the title of the painting, measurements, price and then asks for date?. (There is already a place at the top for the pertinent information, name, etc.,  including date.)  Does this date mean the date I painted the watercolor?  This may seem like a 'silly' question, but since I'm new I am very green.  Thanks for any help.  Jodi

Hi,
I can barely read your question but I think I can give an answer a try. Of course without actually seeing the form, I'm only guessing, but here goes.

Most of the forms I have filled out want the date that you painted the painting. (Year is usually sufficient.) Some forms for those shows that actually look at a real painting and not just slides have forms with several parts so you have to repeat the requested information several times. Once to hand in, once to put on the back of the painting and one for you to take as a sort of receipt.

Good luck. Whatever happens it's an opportunity..

"He who makes no mistakes, makes nothing."

If it turns out that your painting isn't juried in don't feel bad at all. Feel good that you are at the point where you want to share your work! There is a whole series of opinions on the subject of juried shows and rejection in the "Tech Talk" section. I just started entering shows a little over a year ago and I sure have learned a lot!

Keep painting!

Sometimes we paint to see more clearly or to feel more deeply.

Thank you so much for the quick reply and especially for the advice! My theory is 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained!.

I will definitely look at Tech Talk section. Just registered yesterday, so working my way through the subjects.

I just have to tell other artists who will understand how I am feeling tonight. I have opened my mail just a while ago and I have notified my painting has been accepted into my very first 'Juried' art show! Still cannot believe it. It sure does pay to try, doesn't it?

Now the next thing to survive is the Opening Reception where my art work will be on display with other artists work! I'll survive though and the whole thing will sure be a learning experience. Life is full of them, isn't it?

Thanks again for your help Marian.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

It is such a great feeling to be accepted!!! ENJOY each moment... Take friends to the reception... especially now... (my family gets bored at the reception, but it's sure nice to have them and others there to cheer you on!!)

You'll have more acceptances (and more rejections). I've learned that the jurors are fickle but WOW!! ---What a great feeling it is when you get juried in. I still remember a year and a half ago when I tried my first show and was accepted. Since then I've been accepted and rejected but it's always great when someone enjoys your artistic vision and allows you to share it with others.

Keep on painting... Keep on sharing your work whenever and wherever you can.
