About a year and a half ago, my mother had to move to an Alzheimer's wing in an assisted living home. In visiting her, I've been astonished and touched to see how loving and generous,  however confused, her fellow travelers are. I would love to find an art activity we could do together. It would be lovely if they could talk and remember, as they painted. I would be grateful if forum members have experiences they could share or ideas they could offer?

hi! i havent taught Alzheimer patients...but i have done a number of years for senior classes...
it also depends how far along the patients are...as to what they could handle? i think i might try cps...
you dont have to buy an expensive brand....but if your determined to use paint...my wc would be the neatest?
and i know this might sound a bit like a strange suggestion....but i have seen, advertized lately, a type of marker, that only marks/colors on the book that comes with it? if the user goes off the page? it shows nothing at all...even on skin, paper, rug ect....but use it on the paper/book that was made for them and they show color....strong and clean....
if those dont seem like options....how about collage with some fancy papers, on card stock? they could create shapes, ripping edges not cutting with sizzors, that are combined and lightly glued down to the surface of the card.....it can be as simple or intricate as they might desire...a bit of spangles...a bit of feather..tinsel? the lil embellishments can make it a lot of fun...and there is no right nor wrong way to do it.....very free style....hardly any mess! and they have a loverly card or two to send out to a loved one...

Thanks so much for the wonderful ideas! I think, especially, the collage/card project would work. I'll let you know!
