I'm interested in attending my first artist workshop, working with oils, concentrating on portraits and figure. I've checked the Artist Magazine website, but aside from throwing a dart at the wall, it's difficult for me to narrow down all of the choices. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has any recommendations on workshops, either within the US or abroad, that you've been extremely happy with. I appreciate any help you might offer.

I was informed of a real good site for online art workshops.

Kevin.........I just spent two weeks last fall studying with Johnnie Lilidahl in Houston, Texas.....(actually,
La Porte) I have known her for years but I was still just blown away with her knowledge and ability to teach. She paints like the old masters and really makes it so understandable. I can't praise her enough! I would love to be able to go live in Texas and study under her for months! She taught me more in two weeks than I learned in years from other workshops.....look her up on the web under Liliedahl Art Studio.

Check out Perrin Sparks at www.perrinsparks.com. She has a dvd and video "Steps to a Likeness" and teaches workshops here.

Hi Kevin.  I just finished doing a workshop, it is so much fun, and so exhausting!  We were painting at Magen's Bay St. Thomas.  Learned a little, swam a little.  We are doing some more, one in Spain in October, and St.Thomas in November.  I don't know if it is rude to mention my own workshop, but anyway here is the link.  www.ThePaintingGypsies.com.
