I like the burst of color for the background of white flowers. You might think of adding some darker values as shadows- below the vase, between the leaves, in between the flowers etc.

I agree. A shadow would anchor it. Right now its floating in space, which is OK if that's what you intended.

Cast the shadow on an imaginary table. Do not worry about the edges of the table, no one will care; you only need the shadow. Also think in terms of color and not darkness when inventing the shadow.

Thank you very much for all the comments. I will fly tomorrow night to Italy for 2 months and I will try to do more practice with shadows. I really appreciated your advices and hope I can post again soon. Francesca
