I know this painting needs something.  Can't figure out what except possibly the dancer needs a shadow.  Would appreciate suggestions.

A shadow under and touching his left toes would ground him , a shadow a ways below the left foot would give him the appearance of jumping a bit in the air while doing the dance but would still ground him.
I like how your colours (especially the blue ) give the impression of motion and energy , but as the dancer is the centre of interest perhaps you might want to do more detail on him but that depends of course of what you are saying in the painting .He actually catches ones eye as he is though. Good job.

When you paint a person in motion always remember the body has a central balance unless someone is going to catch the person. I like the free flowing of the paint in the background.

Has a wonderful floating feeling, i don't think it needs a shadow because that would make him grounded and his pose would be all wrong on the ground. I like it just the way it is.

Thanks for the suggestions, Pearl.
Kathy, I realize its off balance and that really causes a tension in the picture, but I think it also suggests movement? Do you think so?
Priti, about the shadow. I've been tempted to put one in, but as you say it would ground him and I'm not sure I want him grounded, but I can sure see Pearl's point. I'll live with it for a while and see what I decide. I do agree with Pearl about the dancer needing more detail or at least something to pull the eye more that way.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'm making some decisions on it in the next few days. Pearl maybe a shadow of an unusual but repeated color?

I like that Idea very much as it would suit your style of painting but only add the shadow if that is what you really feel you want to do.

Well, Pearl, I took all of your advice and I admit it.  You were definitely right.  I really like the picture much better now and the dancer really stands out now.  Thanks so much.

I also added kind of a companion picture that I did at nearly the same time.  Its called Joy.  I think it speaks for itself.

Re Riverdance , Yes , such a wonderful difference . Well done ,the value for the shadow is just right.
and as for "Joy" , beautiful and I love the joyful look on the dancers face. They would look great hanging together in frames.
