Watercolor on paper 16" x 12" This painting is done from a photo taken in Judy's (my friend) garden of her favorite pink peonies - hence the name.....I am trying to learn how to work with the different effects of sunlight.

| This piece is looking good. The background has some wonderful subtleties and the flower has a beautiful form. However, I would suggest that the graphic nature of the peony pettles is too contrasting with the background. |

Very nice work Priti!! I like it! Great background colors. I don't really see a problem with the flower. |

| Thanks Jay my goal was to bring the flowers forward,... hence the over emphasis. Thanks Jim and Tom, both of you are already familiar with my work so you know that i love color and i am always trying to experiment with that. |

| Thanks Suz, you are right i painted the flower after i completed the background. For me the fun part about watercolors is that i get to play with the water and the colors, so i often do the background first and then the "tedious/detail" work (of the flower petals). |

Priti, I really like this painting. In my opinion it's more pleasing to look at than the cover of The Artist's Mag. this month. Kathy |

Thank you Kathy, i hope the editors and publishers are listening. BTW - a small correction - my friend Judy saw this and loved the absolutely painting but she kept saying that she loves the cherry blossoms and i kept asking her to re -check her photos. She did, and emailed me last night to say that these flowers are from her garden of her favorite pink Kwazan cherry blossoms. |

| Thanks Barbara, Over time you will find that lack of control is the best part about watercolors. Keep practicing and post here- a lot of very encouraging artists on this forum. |

| Is the Kwazan cherry blossum a double? Most cherry blossoms are simple with five petals. |

I like the contrast and the colors very much here. Lovely! Lines of the flower is lovely too. Three small green leaves around the right half of the flower has an important effect I think. --- Wish I could paint watercolors like this --- Suna. |
