Greetings all: Lately I have been wondering how many of the regular members of this community are "old folks." I'm 87yrs old and am wondering if I'm the oldest regular member. The attached painting "Sea Creatures" was painted at least 40 years ago when I worked at the Smithsonian Institution as a Museum Specialist (Echinoderms)

I like the way you did the ocean waves and the colors you used. Is that a self portrait?

I'm only 37 myself. I hope I make it to 87! This painting is quite humorous!

Very cool Tom!
Did you do some scraping to get the texture in the waves and your beard?
What is an echinoderm? Is that like a sea urchin? I'm 55 and I think you are the winner in age here.

All the best,
Jim

Greetings All,Yes Priti that is a self portrait. The beard is long gone. Echinoderms include star fish,(sea stars)sea urchins, sand dollars, and several others, some stalked. There are two sand dollars and a sea urchin in the painting. Jim Arches rough paper was used so lightly passing the side of the brush over the paper gives the same effect as scraping. Jay stay "with the flow" and you will make it.
