Holy Fire
6 x 9 140 lb Arches, Watercolor
Standing in God's presence you are filled with peace, joy and love.

Lost in the Spirit
9 x 12  140 lb Arches, Watercolor
When I worship, I love those times when you totally lose track of yourself and just float in the Spirit.

I Love Your Presence
6 x 9 140 lb Arches, Watercolor
I love when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you just feel Jesus so close and you are filled with His love.  You know He loves you and as a result, you love Him too.  No love is truer.

I'm so glad you're displaying these...they tell of your walk and personal relationship. They are a reminder of the joy and peace that comes when we escape from the daily distractions and place our focus on Him. Lovely work.

What lovely expressions of your faith! I envy this skill to paint from the heart rather from the head. Thanks for sharing with us the feelings that motivated your work. In the "presence" painting I am seeing a second face next to the woman's. She appears to be leaning into the "presence". Is that intentional or am I just seeing things?

Yep, the second face is intentional. And yes, she is leaning on the Presence. I'm learning that life is so much easier that way.
Thank you so much for your post. It blessed me.

Holly the Administrator PLEASE JUMP IN HERE: It looks like we are once again going back to Jesus.

Hello, Lung Tom,

This message board is open to mention of religion and faith, Christian or otherwise. The artist's comments are appropriate because they pertain to the meaning of her painting, and furthermore, in an earlier post she was asked by an interested forum member to give this background. It's also part of a  normal interchange within a forum thread for members to express like-minded sentiments.

Generally, I'm not inclined to stop this sort of exchange unless someone is purposefully saying something hurtful or hateful about one's faith or lack of faith.  As in any other matter on this message board, religious opinions may be expressed, agreed with or disagreed with, as long as the comments are made with respect toward all parties concerned.

Holly,
The art work is undoubtably inspired by her faith and I don't have a problem with that, but people of other faiths and beliefs are not interested in this. The forum in my opinion should be used to grow as an artist and not be a ground for anyones religious views. We have people from all over the world with all kinds of beliefs that show there work here and I think that in order to increase someones comfort level in showing work here and not be offended by anothers religious views, we keep this to ourselves in respect for others.

All the best,
Jim

Jim;
I didn't post my art to push my views, nor it is my desire to disrespect anyone else's views. I posted my art to get some feedback from other artists. I am interested in improving my art. I respect the artistic talent represented by this site.
 I don't paint to make anyone uncomfortable. I paint to express what is in my heart, because it has to come out. I didn't post to be controversial. I posted to see what people thought of my artwork.
I do appreciate your input though. Thank you for it.
Blessings,
Michelle Sparks

Greetings Adminitrator Holly: A year or two back the Creativity Corner got heavy into Christianity and I entered a painting inspired by Buddhism. The stuff hit the fan. and an administrator jumped in and said to keep religion out of the forum. The artist Materese Roche has not posted since contrary to the file on her name. She wondered who used her name.

Lung Tom;
I am so sorry that that kind of thing happened. It makes me sad that the person never submitted again. An artist's forum is really not the place for that. Tom I assure you that I don't desire to get involved in debating who is right and who is wrong. I respect everyone's right to expression. I just want to show my art and get better at it. I am not here to argue. I just want to paint and get some feedback. Is Materese Roche's painting still on the forum? I would like to see it.
Again I am sorry for what happened.
Blessings,
Michelle

Michelle , I like the movement and mood you have achieved in all three of these paintings .My favourite though is the first , which is very strong with the contrasting colours of yellow and purply/blue . the red accent sets it off beautifully.

Thank you, Pearl. I'm glad you like it. These are my three most recent and I really like them. That one I first saw during worship at church. Made for quite a worship experience, I must say!!!! :-) I really appreciate your input as I respect your art very much.

I absolutely love the way the members of this message board handle controversy! Your tolerance and openness isn't always seen on other boards. Lung Tom, I was aware that about two years ago there had been some sort of blow up over a religious discussion, but that was before my time, and I never knew the details. I'm sorry to hear that your work and comments were not accepted as they should have been.

I suggest we start with a clean slate. It's true, this forum is meant for the discussion of art topics and should be primarily restricted to that discussion. But if someone's art has religious overtones, I see no reason to bar the person posting from giving a bit of background on that art. I only ask that members not post art as an excuse to proselytize. The borderline can be difficult to determine, but I don't think this has happened yet. If anyone should ever feel this is happening, feel free to contact me a artistsnetwork@fwmedia.com.

If two members want to pursue a religious discussion that was sparked by a comment on the board, you may find it wise to do so privately. You can send someone a personal email by clicking on the user name of the person who made a post (in the left column). This takes you to the user's profile, where you can "click to send an email." The user's email address will not be revealed. I trust no-one will use this ability to harangue, taunt, insult or otherwise abuse a forum member. It is, on the other hand, an excellent way to pursue a discussion of interest to both parties, but not pertinent to the message board.
