Pearl;
I am so sorry to take so long to get back to answering your questions.  Its been a busy couple of weeks.
Both paintings are 6" x 9" and painted  with watercolor on 140 lb coldpressed paper.
The telling of their stories will take a little longer, but I'll try to make it brief.
First of all, I am a Christian.  I see everything through those lenses.  My whole life is a journey to know Jesus better and better.
Most of it has been spent in guilt, I have to admit, because I didn't have a real revelation of what Jesus' death on the cross actually bought me.  I am just learning that now, at 62 years old.
He has spent the last few years freeing me from guilt.  Just prior to painting the one called 'Faith,'  the Holy Spirit had been really strongly accenting Hebrew 13:5.  It says, " I will NEVER desert you, nor will I EVER forsake you."  Day after day for about a week He pounded that into me.  Then a set of circumstances occurred that set me reeling.  I didn't do anything, but I was so tempted to.  I began to sink back into that deep pit of guilt again.  I was there for about 4 or 5 days, miserable.  Then,  He reminded me of the scripture.  I drug myself up, took a hold of it and held on for all I was worth and the truth that He loves me.  Immediately, the storm lifted.
The painting is one of victory.  The sub-title is, "Holding on to what He says."  Its one of my favorites, because it was a turning point in my life.  She is strong because she believes the truth, what God says.
The other one is called, 'Praying in the Spirit.'  One prays in the Spirit by being led by the Holy Spirit how to pray.  That is why her hand is on the Holy Spirit's shoulder.  Its a team effort and quite powerful, because the life of God is in it.  Yellow is the Glory of God  and blue is revelation--He is revealing secrets that only He knows.
Anyway, I'm sure this is much more information than you wanted, but you asked to know the story behind them, so there you go.
I really very much appreciate your feed back.  Thank you.
Kim

Reading your comments makes them that more beautiful and powerful. I'm glad that He has lifted you from the darkness.

Your colors are clean with high key dominance, very nice.  Your descriptions of the paintings are refreshing.  I know that God has given me the talent and desire to create through watercolor only to glorify Him. jbg

 Thank you so much intecede for the stories behind your paintings and no it wasn't too much information . As Kim said , the explanation  "makes them more powerful" and as a Christian also I can appreciate your paintings even more knowing the background to them.

Blessings . Pearl

Thank you for the explanation. It clarifies why you used so much yellow. Good imagery.
