This painting is done from a photo posted on wetcanvas. I now live in a cold northern climate but grew up in a warm part of the world. I saw this as an opportunity to draw something from that memory.

Hi Priti, Very well done but one comment.  It is best not to copy published photographs orpaintings --- when you do it could be a violation of the copyright laws.  You could be sued.

You are absolutely right. Copying is not only illegal but also unethical.

This photo was posted as a contest for artists to come up with their own versions. Besides that, wetcanvas has an extensive library of photos posted for artists to use as reference material for their paintings. You should check it out sometime for ideas.

Wow! This is great. I like how you painted this subject. The bold colors work well.

This is lovely Priti. The colours certainly evoke a tropical climate so good choice.

Thanks Kim and Pearl - I am working on trying to decide on a color scheme before i begin painting and try to keep a limited palette.

Hi Priti,

I saw this on wetcanvas and thought "how would I paint this, so much green", you have captured it just beautifully!  And just for everyones info, if you paint something that you aren't going to sell, there is no problem with copying.  It's only when you plan on selling something that a copyright would apply.  And it looks as though they gave everyone the right to copy since it was posted as a contest to paint it!  Just my opinion!

Anyway, love the colors you added to make this more interesting of a piece.

Yes, Priti Tom has read Deb's comment.  I think Deb has a loose interpretation of the copyright laws.

Priti,
I love your selection of colors for this picture. When I saw the photo, I got no inspiration, but you certainly did. I always appreciate artists who can put their own spin on a photo.
