I have posted this in the ask the experts forum, but thought i might get a faster response here?

I am entering one of my paintings in an art competition this week. One of the things they want is an insurance amount (in case it reaches the finalist stage at which point i would need to ship it to them for the last stage of judging and to be put on display for a number of months if it wins or gets an honorable mention). The painting is priceless to me and is one I would not sell at any price, but I am trying to come up with a reasonable insurance amount so I don't appear to "cheeky."

It is entitled SING Redeeming Love! watercolor on 140lb cold press paper. 9"x 12" 2007.

Although a cool million would not cover it's value to me, I was thinking a more subjective reasonable amount would be $600? I know that might be a little high to somebody else for that size, but there is a lot of detail work and it took me a year to complete it.

thanks, Dawna

Think of the amount you could reasonable expect that others might be willing to pay for it. In the end that is the true dollar value of anything.
