Hi everyone!  This is sort of a mixed medium, but thought it best to post here in watercolor, since most of it is that.  I joined a plein air group a few months back and have been experimenting with new ideas.  Last week, I worked with watercolor instead of pastels.  Much easier to transport.  This one is of some fall colors in northern Illinois.  Yes, it's already starting to change!  Did this on a beautiful Saturday morning at the St. Mary's Seminary.  There is a beautiful lake on the grounds and this caught my eye.  Comments appreciated.

Very nice watercolor Deb.  I can understand your comment about how much easier it is to plein air paint with watercolors than pastel.  I'm the only watercolor painter in a group of pastel painters.  I'm glad I don't have to deal with all that dust.  You did a fine job on this watercolor --- keep it up.

Thanks for the comment LT,
Yes watercolor painting is less messy!  The hardest thing about transporting them is they are very fragile and packing and unpacking can damage the pastels.  Being outdoors though is the easiest for the dust!  Using watercolors, you can have 4 or 5 tubes and get a range of colors.  With pastels, you want individual colors so you end up with lots more things to carry.

Deb, this is so striking - gorgeous colors. Nice intensity. I love how you achieved transparency in the colors. I don't watercolor, so this is intriguing to me. Beautifully done!

Thanks for the great compliments on my "fall" watercolor.  I think this was one of the best watercolors I have ever painted.  So hard to just let the colors flow and settle.  I have a habit of not letting it dry or letting it dry and putting too much paint on.  Hope I can do it again!!!

Wow Love!  That's great everyone.  I am so surprised by this because I really didn't think I did this painting that great.  But that goes to show you, who knows best your audience!

I want to know how I was 4 stars and now I am 2.  How does that work?
