Yeah, yeah, I know it's August, but I need to start designing Christmas cards now so they'll be ready to sell for Christmas. This is my first one. I call it "Snow Day!!". Please let me know what you think of my first design.

All the best,

Jim,
I like your design and the painting. But the snow with the 3 sledders seems to have picked up on that August Sun. The snow should be blue white.

Love the imagery and the nostalgic atmosphere that you created. It definitely brings back childhood memories.

Thanks Tinae, Greeding cards? LOL!! I know what you meant, but
just couldn't resist the possible double entendre!
Hi Kassie, I don't know how it turned yellow up there on the hill. It's not in the painting.
I'm just not a very good photographer.
Thank you very much Joy, Qetesh and Mike! I'm glad it evoked nostalgia and reminded you of
Christmas.

All the best,
Jim

I have problems with my posts, too. The color on the painting of my son got washed out even after I tried to enhance them in Photoshop.. Don't know why the colors don't always come out right. This will be a great greeting card.

I have never seen blue white snow!!  I have seen when looking at the side of a cut the same green you see in a glacier.

Thanks Lung Tom for taking a look here. Appreciate your comments.
Take a look this winter at the shadows cast by snow in the sunlight.
You may be surprised at how blue it looks!

Love the shadows on the snow....and I like the detail work of the fence. Never too early to start those Christmas cards. I was just thinking about doing that myself

Hi Jim

Both are beautyfull - but make it simpler or print it

If you paint this for friends and relatives - you have to work till Xmas 2009

thes simplest with limitted palette work best - hope you dont mind :

Hi Egon,
Always value your opinion. You are the master of the
limited pallette. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

All the best,

Jimmy4u:  When I mentioned the green I've seen in snow I was far from just looking at shadows.  I was thinking of the color you see where the sun light is altered  as it passes through the snow.  If you have ever been around glaciers or deep snow cuts you will see the green light to which I mentioned.
