Greetings!  I have been posting on WetCanvas for a number of years but decided to try AN as there are numerous problems with the WC website.  I paint almost exclusively in watercolor now and while I mostly do portrait sketches, I also enjoy other subjects.  This is a still life I finished yesterday in a fairly tight style painted to look similar to an oil painting.  It is a quarter sheet of Arches 140# CP.  All comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

You definitely got the oil paint feel here. This is very good work.

This is wonderful. It doesn't look like a watercolor, really. But it is beautiful.

This is really fabulous; I especially like your composition and the fact that it doesn't look overworked. Wet Canvas is having "technical difficulties" - I just tried it. They had an announcement that due to so much usage the site was being upgraded and should be bigger and better soon. Do you do the darks in one go or layers?

Thanks Jim, Sandeep, Wingman, Gene! Much appreciated Joy! I should have said that the painting was from a reference photo from the WetCanvas reference file by Missi51....and she deserves the credit for the comp. On this particular painting, the darks are layered. I was just trying to take watercolor to an exteme use.....definitely not washy color.
Thanks Egon!

I continue to be amazed at the TALENT out there!  This is excellent in my opinion!  The Lighting is GREAT!  The effect in the shadows and background is VERY well done!

I am new to watercolor, but I know what I like.  The onion skins are beautiful.  I don't cook, but they make me want to go into the kitchen and get the onions chopped.  Really, I wouldn't want to disturb the beautiful still life.

I just joined this site -- most of my friends do oils, so as a watercolorist, it's great to see really nice watercolors done by others -- very nice work!
