My Dad was a Korean War Veteran. I've never really done a
painting for him, so this is a trubute to my Dad and all the Korean War Vets. Hope you like it.

Very good Jim.  Many people don't understand how we got into the Korean War.  They don't realize that we had a small occupation army there as it had been occupied by the Japanese from well before WWII.  Unlike the disbanding of the Iraqi army by Bush.  We kept some Japanese army units in Korea for awhile to help us get established.  They were all well gone by the time the North Koreans attacked.Has your Dad ever gone back to see the Korean War memorial in Washington D.C.

I served two tours in the Korean War.

There should be a gas actuated cylender under the barrel of the rifles.  It operated the breach allowing semiautomatic firing.

Jim, I am constantly amazed with your range of styles. To me this is totally different from so many of your other pieces. And equally well-done. It sure shows the grimness of the War. My older brother was in that war, also. Keep painting. Gene

Thank Lung Tom for your comments. I'll have to check into the gas actuated cylinder. It wasn't in my reference photo, but I believe you that it should be there. My dad did not see the Memorial, he passed away in 1986. He also served two tours over there. Thank you again for your kind words and for your service to our country.

Thanks Gene for stopping by and for your always kind comments.
My next painting will take me way out of the grimness of war and into
the light of new birth. I'll be doing a painting of a new born holding the fingers
of its new parents. Hope it comes out alright.
