My first attempt at multiple layering of glazes after not getting the intensity because colors lighten after drying. The darkest values have at least four layers of glazes, most mid values three and the lightest of course only one.

I have never tried the glazes, but I must say I like this very much. Love the colours !!! Actually reminds me of the french - Quebec streets of cobblestone.

great rainy street scene! I've had some trouble with the colors lifting up when I try to layer more on top, or becoming very muddy. Maybe I'm not patient enough and wait long enough for the first layers to dry. Yours came out absolutely beautiful, you have the nack!

Outstanding! I really love the lack of bright colors in this, and then having the smallish red umbrella in it is great. Gene

Wonderful - I have the same problem Justine does. This is very well done.

Thanks, I found that I was having the same issue of paint lifting at first so I made sure the area was bone dry in between glazes before I flooded it with water then applied the paint immediately. The trick is to let the paint flow off a very loaded brush from one point and not actually brush the area, sort of like pouring it on. The brush will lift the previous layer but this way it doesn't touch the surface. Amazing what you can learn out of frustration.  Michael

Thanks. This was my frst attempt too at trying to convey a wet, rainy day and I knew the colors had to be earthy and a bit muted. I took this photo years ago because I liked the flow of the figures into the space between the buildings and after manipulating the figures saw there was no rel focal point hence the red umbrella. Thanks for viewing and for the comment.  Michael

Beautiful! The street looks slick with wetness and the lighting has that stark greyish feeling of a rainy day.

Great work! Liked the rainy day reflections on the cobblestones! The man in black in the front appears to be a single dark shade on my screen...probably it would have subtle shades in you ractual painting.
